look, just because i oppose the war doesn't mean i don't want us to win, okay?
i just don't think its good policy, after running a whole campaign against somebody for "nation building" to then swoop in and force a change in another sovereign nation's government. especially when the rest of the international community opposes it.
but i guess somebody's gotta get those contracts for halliburton, eh?
how else is KBR gonna get a $7billion no-bid sole source contract?

okay, i usually refrain from talking about my personal life on the blog, but the new location has me all giddy and feeling reckless.
that, and the circumstances of this story are very weird.
so i finally put an ad up on nerve personals, probably the next to last person of my generation to do so, and i get some dates.
nerve.com (and salon, and the onion, and whatever other portals feed into this cesspool of shallow, narcissistic and judgemental lunatics, the writer included) is the ultimate blind date matchmaker, except with misleading headshots. so instead of "she has a nice personality," it should be "she's great on photoshop."
regardless, i engage in the online courtship ritual and set up some dates. people not in politics. people that, in a metropolitan area of over 7 million people, should be new and outside my circle of friends and heavily incestuous professional life, right?
wrong.
Strike #1:
sitting in a bar with date 1 and friends. like the girl. having fun. turn to friends, who ask what i do. i tell them.
friends: "do you know s?"
'saw: "that's one of the partners in my firm."
friends: "well, we're best friends with his ex-wife. and so is your date."
let us be brief: ex-wife does not like me.
Strike 2:
date2: "so i work developing health care plans for unions"
'saw: "do you know n and e?" [n and e are my two most recent exes, both of which work for health-care oriented unions]
date2: "oh, i work with them all the time. they're great!"
dammit!
Strike 3:
'saw: "so where do you live?"
date3: "in the sf building."
'saw: "do you know t?" [t is the ex-wife mentioned in strike 1]
date3: "oh yeah! she's my neighbor!"
to recap:
date 1 is best friends with my business partner's ex-wife, who hates me;
date 2 knows and works with my most recent ex-girlfriends;
date 3 lives in the same building and knows the business partners ex-wife, who, to review, hates me.
so much for the anonymity of the internet.
