A good day for hate

in the LA Times.

  • Pope issues a dictum demanding clergy not only oppose same-sex marriage but try to undo any legislation actually allowing two people from entering into a commited relationship unless the plumbing is complimentary. presumably this will help preserve the prohibition on marriage within the clergy.

  • Israel passes a law prohibiting arabs married to israelis from living in israel unless they are citizens. oh, and the law prevents them from becoming citizens. racist and wrongheaded.

  • two kids that have no reason to hate each other, but hey, one is arab and another a jew. my favorite line: "They're one thing," he said, "and we're something else."

  • sometimes a day like today weighs me down, sucks my head below the waves. i feel like i'm struggling to keep my head above water, breath the air of hope and possibility.

but the undertow of hate and despair is pulling me down again.

if there was any doubt that this republican administration, and especially the pentagon, lacked any moral foundation, it was thouroughly dispelled by this article.

slaves to the market and servants of the monied interests.

how do we financially exploit the instability in the middle east? how do we dehumanize the death, destruction and poverty? how do we further denigrate human life in the pursuit of money and power?

no matter how low they sink, counting seniors lives as worth less than 2/3rds of younger people, cutting poor people out of the tax cut, lie to lead us into war - they always manage to surprise me.

but establishing an internet "futures market" (read: gambling site) to bet on potential assasinations and terrorist attacks, or future targets of US aggression?

that is beyond the fucking pale. that is morally reprehensible, and it exposes the base and craven worship of profit above all else.

it makes me fucking sick at the total moral bankruptcy. if this is the way they want to govern, through lies, decieit and cynicism, they must be stopped at all costs. all cost.

    remember:

"justice is never granted; it is exacted." -- a philip randolph.

fight hard today. and even harder tomorrow.
