Last Thursday, due to the ivy’s continued resistance to inspections proving it did not harbor poison ivy, or Plants of Multiple Scratching (PMS), I gave the ivy 48 hours to vacate the property or suffer the consequences. The propagandist will not tolerate a threat to the dermatological integrity of my home and its occupants. I gave the ivy a chance to prove it had disposed of or destroyed the PMS stockpiles, but do to its intransigence, I was forced to act.

On Sunday, after a targeted strike at what appeared to be the HQ of the plant - above my door on the lattice – battle was joined.

the advances of my forces were met with thorns, not flowers. and despite my near immediate routing of all organized forces, pockets of resistance remain, largely in the so-called "unreachable by hedge-trimmers triangle."

I am convinced that this resistance is nothing more than the remains of a discredited and hegemonic plant, unrepresentative of the other shrubberies on my property. I am convinced that once I finish clearing out the bitter and defeated shoots that constitute the resistance, the rest of my landscaping will fall in line, flowering with the exuberance and frequency that accompanies landscape ecosystems firmly rooted in freedom and democracy, and free of the tyranny of small plants with aggressive growth patterns.
