i often wonder why ball gags aren't a part of this industry
one of my clients was just accused of being a communist.
because he went to south africa to help monitor elections.
that was bad enough, but when asked how he funded the trip, he replied:
"by faith and will alone."

recall propaganda review, vol. 1
it looks like arianna huffington hired bill hillsman to do her tv.
hillsman is the guy behind paul wellstone's television ad campaigns. he also did jesse ventura's race, and produced the nader 'priceless' ad from 2000.
one of the things i hate about political television is that all the ads look exactly alike. ominous voice. grainy picture. wildly inflated charges or credentials. but some of this guy's stuff is really different, and smart.
check out hillsman's stuff here. especially the ventura "action figure" spot (brilliant).
WHY P.R. MATTERS, #3
"Bishop Forces Out Beloved Nun"
choice quote from the LA Times story:
Steinbock is the same bishop, critics say, who showed unusual tolerance by waiting several years to take action against a priest who confessed to repeatedly molesting teenage girls. In a recent court case, the bishop testified that only after the priest admitted molesting six more teenagers in 1990 did he remove him from the youth ministry.
"How can you sit on a case involving a pedophile and by the fell swoop of a pen eliminate a lady who has worked 25 years to assist the poor?" Felts asked. "I don't know how else to say it."

as i wade into the tide of media coverage of the recall, i've noticed a strange thing:
i can't read any of ahnold's quotes without hearing his accent in my head.
it has kind of got me to thinking: if i could have anybody's voice, who would i want to sound like?
the answer to that came quickly.
earl scruggs.
