i want to go places and do things. i want to leave this desk and all the juvenile assholes that call me with thier stupid questions that are only about avoiding their responsibility for tasks or passing blame for their fuck ups.

i want out, where i am not responsible for the success of others, where i am not the last decisionmaker in the line, where at the end of the meeting my initials are not next to all the tasks.

i want the sun, the water, the dirt under my feet, i want to enjoy the crooked slant of the sun at twilight, the breath of cool air as the evening replaces the day. i want the glorious feeling of emptyness in front of me, of the unknown beckoning, of sailing the sea without foundering on the rocks.

i need out of here. this is driving me nuts and the simplest tasks take on gargantuan proportions and immeasurable peril. i want a break, a good turn, a piece of unexpected luck.

i want a day at the beach.

i want the tests to come back negative.

this (registration required use my ID: thepropagandist, password spindoc) is one of the bright spots of my day. always nice to see fox news take it in the shorts, especially when a federal judge calls their suit against franken "wholly without merit, both factually and legally."

other highlights:

  • in rejecting fox's claim that an image of bill o'reilly with the word "lies" over his head might construe an implied endorsement of the book: "Judge Chin said, 'The president and the vice president are also on the cover. Is someone going to consider that they are affiliated with Fox?'

The courtroom broke into laughter again."

  • the fox brief 'referred to Mr. Franken, a former "Saturday Night Live" writer and performer and an unabashed liberal, as a "parasite" who appeared shrill, unstable and "increasingly unfunny."'

so much for "fair and balanced," eh?

  • the judge summed it up: "Judge Chin said the case was an easy one, and chided Fox for bringing its complaint to court. The judge said, 'Of course, it is ironic that a media company that should be fighting for the First Amendment is trying to undermine it.'"

  • but propagandists don't care about free speech. they care about promoting their own view. and anyone that seriously believes fox news is a "fair and balanced" news outlet deserves what they get.

any person that still questions whether humankind is basically good or fundamentally evil should try driving in LA traffic on a monday morning.
